Okay, if you've never seen Bleach, then here's a little recap.

There are two worlds; our world and that in which the Soul Society resides. The Soul Society is an organization of Soul Reapers (aka Shinigami [Death God]). Their job is to help the Good Spirits pass over and to destroy the Hollows (evil spirits). That is the only reason they ever cross over to our world.

In the beginning of the series, there is a 15-year-old boy, Ichigo Kurosaki, who can see spirits; meaning he can see Soul Reapers as well. Soul Reapers are usually invisible to the Human eye, unless in our form. Ichigo meets a young-looking Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki, who get injured trying to save one of Ichigo's younger sisters from a Hollow. This results in Ichigo having Rukia turn him into a Soul Reaper so he can defeat the Hollow and save his sister.

For this, Rukia is sentenced to an execution. In attempt to save her, Ichigo crosses over to the Soul Society; followed by his friends: Orihime, Uryuu, and Chad. He defeats Rukia's brother, Byakuya and saves Rukia. (That's as far as I've seen.)

Toushiro's more of the calm type and he's a child prodigy, being only 14 and a genious. But he likes to think things through, and during the Bleach series, it's definatly obvious that he's in love with Momo.
